Please join us for an Academic Leadership Series webinar: Conflict Resolution in Academic Departments.

Like all human organizations, academic departments experience episodes of conflict. Sandra Cheldelin, Vernon and Minni Lynch Professor and the Ph.D. Program Coordinator at George Mason University's internationally acclaimed Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, will address how to productively confront and handle conflict in the academy. Cheldelin is a scholar and widely experienced practitioner in helping handle academic conflicts. She offers proven approaches to developing useful and lasting resolution of conflict issues.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Recognize the sources of academic departmental conflict and better understand the motivations behind it.
  2. Gain a better understanding about what is typical and atypical in academic disputes.
  3. Consider ways to think more productively about departmental conflict, and how you can move participants through it more productively.
  4. Analyze the actual dynamics of a conflict process.
