UAA in the news: Data from 2010 Alaska Victimization Survey shared with legislators

On Monday, Jan. 24, Dr. Andre Rosay, director of the Alaska Justice Center, presented data from the 2010 Alaska Victimization Survey to a joint meeting of the Alaska Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate Health and Social Services Committee. It is the first report of its kind in Alaska and was requested by the Legislature in 2009 after lawmakers were surprised to find no one had done a "victimization" report. This study looks beyond incidents of sexual assault and domestic violence that are reported to police and surveys women by phone to uncover the extent of the problem that goes unreported, according to a press release.
