Feb. 7-13, 2011: Cama-i Room program highlights

All events are located in the Cama-i Room, Gorsuch Commons unless otherwise noted. These events are free and open to the public. The Cama-i Room is a social gathering place and study center for all UAA students. Cama-i Room programs and activities celebrate Alaska Native, Native American and Alaska cultures.

Flying Fry Bread
Monday, Feb. 7, 5-8 p.m.
Gorsuch Commons
Top your fry bread with international toppings and learn about study abroad opportunities from Leslie Tuovinen. Leslie is currently the international affairs coordinator that assists students with attending school for one semester or for a whole year in a country outside of the U.S.

Everything I Know About Sex I Learned from 'Glee'
Tuesday, Feb. 8, 6 p.m.

Sex is discussed everywhere; on TV, in books, magazines and among friends. How much of this information is accurate? Geran Tarr uses "Glee" to help us sort out truth from fiction and have fun while doing it.  At 7 p.m. we'll move to the Cama-i Room to watch the next episode of "Glee" and enjoy fresh popcorn. This event is presented by the Student Health & Counseling Center.

The Reality of Being a Parent
Every Tuesday, 9-10 p.m.

Pick up lessons for the future or learn about what it's like for parents everywhere! Come watch "Teen Mom," a show that explores what young moms and dads go through during their first year of parenthood.

Grow a Friend
Wednesday, Feb. 9, 5-7 p.m.

Grab a mini flower kit and plant the seeds. Grow a new companion for your room. All supplies provided.

Sharing Traditions
Thursday, Feb. 3, 6:30-9 p.m.

A new art project, artist or elder will be offered each Thursday. All are welcome to take part in the activities and meet the special guests.
