I wish to acknowledge and thank Assistant Director of AHAINA Carey Brown, for serving as the interim director of UAA's Multicultural Center as a national search for a permanent director was conducted. I commend Carey for his commitment to the success of students, and I look forward to his continued service to UAA and our students. Unfortunately, the search for UAA's next director of the Multicultural Center closed unfilled and I will commence a national search later this spring during the traditional national recruitment cycle for student affairs professionals.

I am pleased to announce that Residence Coordinator for the First Year Experience, Diane Kozak, has agreed to serve as the next interim director of the Multicultural Center as the search continues. Diane has a Master of Science in student personnel administration with a counseling emphasis. Her past professional experiences include residence hall director for Multicultural Programming at Mohawk Valley Community College. In this position she created inclusive social and academic programming for students.

Diane's prior UAA experience includes serving as the assistant director of Student Life and Leadership and the Student Leadership coordinator. Her administrative experiences also include serving as the assistant dean of students at Clarkson University. Diane was actively involved in various diversity initiatives, STEM projects and first-year retention programs. Diane's professional knowledge and experiences will be an asset to the center during this time of transition.
