Today UAA honors and celebrates Elizabeth Peratrovich Day.
Elizabeth Peratrovich was a courageous woman and advocate for Native citizens and their rights. In 1988, the Alaska Legislature established Feb.16 as Elizabeth Peratrovich Day to commemorate the anniversary of the signing of the Anti-Discrimination Act.
