Dr. Alex Hills speaks at TEDx Anchorage on UAA's 'Consulting in the Community' project March 19

Dr. Alex Hills' presentation, titled "Consultants with a Conscience," will be part of a TEDx event sponsored by the Institute or the North. The TEDx event is titled "Livable Communities and the Human Condition."

As part of his speech, Hills will describe the UAA "Consulting in the Community" project and discuss the future of continuing the same kind or work at UAA. He will also describe the Dr. Alex Hills Engineering and Civic Engagement Award.

The Dr. Alex Hills Award for research by an undergraduate engineering student (awarded by the Honors College) and the Dr. Alex Hills Engineering and Civic Engagement Award, awarded to an undergraduate student who will initiate a service project that solves engineering and technology-based problems in partnership with community organizations (awarded by the Center for Community Engagement and Learning). Hills also taught a class during "Consulting in the Community" focused on engineering students fall 2010.

Jarrod Nelson was awarded the Dr. Alex Hills award in November and Kris Homerding was awarded the Second Bridge Award. Future applicants can apply for the next award in November.
