Student Showcase is UAA's annual academic conference where selected students present their best classroom work in mini sessions and compete for cash prizes and a chance to be published in the Student Showcase Journal. The format is fast paced and allows the audience members to enjoy a huge variety of topics in a short span of time.

Students have been working on their 10-minute presentations since February. Distinguished community members are reviewing their work before the conference and attend the sessions to comment and provided feedback to the students. This year, students will present topics ranging from the TV series "Mad Men," the Tea Party and sexual content in magazines to Scottish athletes, embedded war correspondents and George Bizet's opera "Carmen."

If you enjoy learning and like to delve into a "buffet-style" of topics, come to the two-day conference. The conference is free and open to the public. Parking is free on Thursday after 4:30 p.m. in the Student Union/Bookstore parking lot and free all day Friday.

For a complete list of presenters and their topics, visit the Student Showcase website. For more information, please call Student Life & Leadership at (907) 786-1215 or email showcase@uaa.alaska.edu.
