'Bernstein's Mass: Public Art and Beliefs in a Complex Society' Forum - March 17, 2011

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Thursday, March 17, 4-6 p.m. UAA/APU Consortium Library, Room 307

To coincide with the performance of Bernstein's Mass this weekend, the Anchorage Concert Chorus and UAA are sponsoring a forum on "Public Art and Beliefs in a Complex Society." An interfaith panel will discuss the work and the symbolism within it and an audience discussion afterward. Add your voice as we discuss:

  • Is Bernstein's Mass sacred, profane or something else entirely?
  • What can a citizen do when public art doesn't represent his/her voice?
  • How can we respectfully hold conversations in the borderlands between cultures?

Food will be provided and attendees will receive 50 percent off tickets to the performance of their choice (Friday or Sunday). Join us for a stimulating forum on a stimulating work of art.
