Egan Center, downtown Anchorage

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, Department of Education and Early Development, Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority and the University of Alaska's School of Social Work invite you to join us for the Alaska Early Childhood Mental Health Institute on May 10-12 at the Egan Center.

The conference, which is focused on young children's mental health, will provide in-depth, practical information on supporting children's healthy social emotional development; identifying and assessing children at risk of mental health disturbances such as mood disorders; addressing attachment and trauma issues; supporting families with maternal depression; and identifying and dealing with the impact of violence. This year an exciting new track has been added for participants working in early care and learning programs. Workshops specifically developed for those participants are indicated with (ECL) following the workshop title.

Our local experts will be joined by the national presenters Dr. Kristie Brandt, director of the Parent-Infant & Child Institute in Napa, CA, assistant clinical professor of Pediatrics VF at U.C. Davis School of Medicine and Child Trauma Academy Fellow; and Dr. Ira Glovinsky, a licensed psychologist who specializes in mood disorders and autism spectrum disorders, co-clinical director of the Village Education Center and associate editor of the Journal of Developmental Processes.
