UAusername and Unified Directory are here!

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Faculty and staff in departments throughout UAA's Anchorage and Eagle River locations are now obtaining their new UAusernames and migrating computers to the University's new Unified Directory. Your UAusername will allow you to replace your old username and consolidate the multiple accounts that many faculty and staff have accumulated over the years. UAusername is the long-promised "single identity" that will give faculty and staff access to services throughout the University of Alaska system regardless of which of our campuses you might visit.

Upgrading your connection to Unified Directory will give you Microsoft Office 2010 and email access to Exchange 2010 with its 3GB mailbox storage standard. It will also give improved unified messaging service for those who wish to integrate their email and voicemail, access to many new services in coming months and allow your computer to be kept updated with the latest software and security tools as well as improve the level of support you receive for computer-related problems.

IT Services is contacting departments throughout the Anchorage area to schedule appointments. The migration process will be handled by technical teams who will visit your department and work individually with each employee to ensure that upgrades and the migration process run smoothly. Most departments can have all users and computers migrated and upgraded in less than a day. Migration teams will work directly with department coordinators to assist with preparations and "housekeeping" that will improve the speed and smoothness of the migration process.

Department Managers -- please get your groups on the schedule quickly by calling the IT Call Center at (907) 786-4646 immediately. Our staff are ready and able to make the migration process smooth and you'll get the immediate benefits outlined above.
