that 37 new UA Scholars enrolled at University of Alaska campuses this spring? Since the UA Scholar program began in fall 1999, a cumulative total of 5,308 students have enrolled and received a UA Scholar distribution from the University of Alaska. This illustrates the overall impact this program has had on Alaska and its residents.

The UA Scholars Program offers an incentive for Alaska's middle and high school students to achieve academic excellence, to nourish efforts of schools to provide high quality education, and to encourage the top high school graduates from every community in Alaska to attend the University of Alaska.

The UA Scholars Award is an $11,000 scholarship that covers eligible expenses such as undergraduate tuition, fees, room, board, books, supplies and other educational costs. The award is disbursed to eligible scholars in the amount of $1,375 per semester for a total of eight semesters over a five year period.
