by Jamie Gonzales  |

Thursday, Sept. 1, 1-3 p.m.
Administration/Humanities Building, Room 204

Ted Kassier began his work at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) in 1992 within the Department of Languages. He has served in many facets throughout his tenure at the University ranging from professor, head of the Department of Languages, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and provost. Ted has also served as the statewide senior associate vice president for academic affairs for two years, before taking on his current role as the director of International Affairs. Over the course of time and titles, Ted has had numerous accomplishments. He gained approval for a B.A. in Languages, oversaw the development of multiple undergraduate and graduate degrees, and helped establish the joint Ph.D. in Psychology, just to name a few.

Margy Kassier joined UAA sixteen years ago on a "short-term contract" with the Center for Human Development (CHD). Much of her attention has been on the Learn As You Earn Program offered at the CHD. The program is a distance delivered workforce development training, which supports students statewide toward an A.A.S. Degree in disability services from Prince William Sound Community College (PWSCC). As associate director of CHD, she was part of the management team that helped guide the implementation of more than 45 federal and state grants, totaling $7 million. Although Margy is excited about her new endeavors, she will sincerely miss her colleagues, their sense of mission, and the warmth she found at the Center, PWSCC and UAA.

Please join us on Thursday, Sept. 1 from 1-3 p.m. in Admin 204 to celebrate their retirement and share stories about these two amazing contributors to UAA, Ted and Margy Kassier.
