The Northwest Human Resource Management Association (NHRMA) represents thousands of HR professionals from Alaska, Oregon and Washington. This year, Patty Hickock, a UAA alumna (M.B.A. '03) previously profiled in the Green & Gold News, was selected for a "Distinguished Member Award" for her outstanding contributions to the HR profession. She was officially recognized in October at their annual conference in Bellevue, Wash. NHRMA had this to say about Hickock:

"Thanks to [Hickock's] technological skills, HR Professionals can now follow Alaska State Council activities on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn and attend quarterly complimentary and HRCI pre-approved webinars. Having spent the last ten years vigorously advocating for the Human Resource profession in the State of Alaska she stands out as a worthy recipient for this prestigious award. There are few people as deeply committed to the HR profession as Patty Hickock. Her vision, leadership, and seemingly never-ending source of energy result in her standing out as an inspiration to those aiming to become leaders in the field of Human Resources."

Hickock is currently serving as director of HR Process Improvement with NANA Development Corporation and has previously worked for Chenega Corporation and the University of Alaska Anchorage. She is also an adjunct professor for Alaska Pacific University, president of her Homeowners' Association, vice president of public relations of the Untwisted Tongues Toastmaster Club and a long-time volunteer with Friends of Pets.
