Student leaders at the University of Alaska Anchorage are coordinating a Halloween celebration for the community. Nearly 50 clubs and organizations at UAA have come together to organize Haunted Halloween Fun Night. Students have sponsored the event for more than 20 years to provide a safe, indoor venue for families.

"Haunted Halloween Fun Night has grown into a popular event over the years. In fact, we are extending hours again this year to accommodate more families and children," said Jessica Dyrdahl, who is the leadership coordinator for Student Clubs & Greek Life.

Families are invited to dress up in their costumes and come to the UAA Student Union on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 1-7 p.m. Each student club is working hard to design a booth that is fun, interactive and geared toward children between the ages of 2 and 12. Participants have the opportunity to play carnival style games, walk through a haunted house and win treats.

Student Clubs & Greek Life have teamed up with Kaladi Brothers Coffee, GCI and other local businesses for the event. There is no admission charge and parking is free. Activity tickets to participate in the games and haunted house are sold for 25 cents each. A portion of proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish foundation and Kids' Kitchen.

"One of our core causes at Kaladi Brothers Coffee is to improve the lives of children. Haunted Halloween Fun Night is very much in line with our mission to be a Catalyst for Community. It's great to see UAA students giving their time to pull this celebration together," said Dale Tran who is chief operating officer at Kaladi Brothers Coffee.
