Pat Leary retirement celebrated with potluck Oct. 28

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Please join us for Pat Leary's Retirement Party this Friday, Oct. 28. Facilities will be having a Pot Luck in Pat's honor from  11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Commons 106. We'll have awards and cake around 1 p.m.  You are welcome to join us at anytime during the party.

Pat began working in the Landscaping Department at UAA in 1981 as a grounds worker and moved up to Horticulture Supervisor. She dedicated her career to keeping UAA an urban wilderness, taking care of our property, planting trees and developing the largest public collection of trees in the state. She also led the effort to for UAA to earn recognition as a Tree Campus USA.

Soon, she will complete a project 15 years in the making by creating an electronic version of the popular UAA Tree Tour. So what does Pat plan to do after 30 years at UAA? "Not work!" she says. Instead, she wants to devote time to her own garden, fishing, travelling, and spending summers exploring Alaska.

Please stop by Commons 106 this Friday to share a story, thank Pat for her 30 years of service or just wish her well in her future adventures. She has had a profound impact on the Anchorage campus of UAA. If for some reason you are unable to be with us on Friday, Pat is working out of ULB Room 109E.  Come on by, email her anplm1@uaa.alaska.edu, or give her a call at (907) 786-1114.
