UAA's Kimura Gallery will feature "American Surrealist Cinematic Developments" beginning Wednesday, Nov. 9.

About the exhibit: American Surrealist filmmakers began to emerge in their own right from the 1930s through the 1950s. Even though there are European elements that can be sensed in their works, they are minimal since these filmmakers created their own idiosyncratic directions. These American films are a far cry from a film such as Salvador Dali's and Luis Bunuel's Un chien andalou (1929). It is precisely the unique frames of references these filmmakers brought to their cinematic visions that this exhibition attempts to convey. The following filmmakers will be screened in three alternating formats (changing weekly) every weekday from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.:
