UAA Debate

The Seawolf Debate Program mixed it up this past weekend with some tough competition in a tournament hosted by our Canadian neighbors in Waterloo, Ontario. Two of the three Seawolf teams entered in the Canadian British Parliamentary Debating Championships advanced to the elimination rounds, giving the top competitive debate teams in North America (some of their projected competition at the upcoming World Championships in the Philippines) a sneak peek at their talent. The teams of Brett Fraze/Colin Haughey and Amie Stanley/Amy Parrent were seeded 5th and 6th, respectively, out of the over 60 teams participating in the championship. Frazer was also the 4th ranked individual speaker out of the over 120 debaters in the competition and Haughey ranked 7th overall.

The team heads to Australia next to compete in two of the most competitive invitational tournaments in the world: the Sydney and Melbourne Intervarsity tournaments. For more information, please contact Steve Johnson at (907) 786-4391.
