The University of Alaska Anchorage TRiO Programs invite you to take part in the National Trio Day of Awareness (NTDOA). Nationally known, award-winning speaker, author and educational consultant, Dr. Joe Martin of Florida A & M University, will provide the keynote address motivating students and adults towards academic excellence. Dr. Martin will also speak to the Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

NTDOA was established by Congressional resolution in 1986 to focus the nation's attention on the needs of disadvantaged young people and adults aspiring to improve their lives through education, to highlight the necessary investment the nation must make towards their success (as productive citizens) and to raise awareness as to the human talent which will be wasted if that investment is not made.

Civic leaders have been invited to attend, and a representative from the Anchorage Mayor's Office will read a proclamation.

In the spirit of collaboration, the Anchorage School District and UAA students will partner with the director of UAA Sustainability to perform a recycling project on campus at 1 p.m. following the keynote speech.
