Two justice majors, Heather MacAlpine and Ezekial Kaufman, presented papers at the 2012 Academy of Criminal Justice annual meeting in New York City. Both students are also officers for Alpha Phi Sigma, the national criminal justice honor society.

André Rosay, Justice Center director, and Professor Marny Rivera also made presentations at the conference.

MacAlpine discussed "Three Strikes? Examining the Cumulative Effect of Race, Gender, and Age on America's Black Males' Perceptions of Police" as part of a panel on race and policing. Kaufman presented "Jury Selection in Alaska: A Qualitative Analysis into the Challenges of Voir Dire in Rural Court Trials" for a panel on legal issues.
