Brian Schmidt of the Australian National University's Research School of Astronomy
and Astrophysics received the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics for "the discovery of the
accelerating expansion of the universe through observations of distant supernovae."
At this very special event, Brian Schmidt will discuss his connections to Alaska,
why education is important and his fascinating research in astronomy. His most recent
project is mapping the southern sky with the use of the SkyMapper survey telescope
situated in New South Wales, Australia.
This event is free and open to the public. Everyone is invited to come meet Brian Schmidt and learn about cutting edge science. For free parking during the event, use the South Lot.
