Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Bruce Schultz is pleased to announce that a Military and Veteran Student Services office will open in Suite 102 of the Student Union in August 2012. UAA serves over 1,850 active duty military and veteran students and this number is expected to continue rising over the next several years.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has selected UAA as one of only 11 universities in the U.S. to participate in the nationally recognized VetSuccess on Campus program. The Military and Veteran Student Services office will serve as an on-campus central service point for UAA's active-duty military and veteran students and their families. The office will support this population in their readjustment into the civilian workforce through post-secondary education with full-time coordinators who are specially trained in the VetSuccess on Campus framework. Individuals in these offices will work directly with the university's Military and Veteran Community Services Assistant to develop and enhance existing training for students, faculty and staff.

Through this office, UAA will be able to better serve our veterans as they transition from combat to college as well as strengthen the university's bonds to the local military community.
