UAA celebrates its green and gold spirit, honors Alumni of Distinction at the 3rd annual Green and Gold Gala Sept. 29, 2012

The University of Alaska Anchorage and the UAA Alumni Association are gearing up for the 3rd annual Green & Gold Gala celebration to be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Anchorage Marriott Downtown.

This black-tie evening with green and gold flair brings UAA alumni and friends together to celebrate the university's successes and raise funds for student scholarships, specifically the UAA Alumni Scholarship Fund.

A live auction will feature many exciting items, including a ride to Prudhoe Bay on the Haul Road with a professional "Haul Road Trucker," courtesy of Carlile Transportation Systems and Era Alaska; a Truuli Peak Vodka Tour and Tasting; a UAA Seawolf Sports package; and tickets to shows at the UAA Planetarium and Visualization Theater, among many other items.

The 2012 Alumni of Distinction will also be honored at the event for their outstanding contributions to the university and community.

About 330 people attended last year's event, which raised over $54,000 for student scholarships-almost $20,000 more than what was raised in the event's inaugural year in 2010.

Event schedule:
6 p.m. - Champagne reception and hors d'oeuvres
7 p.m. - Dinner and auction
9 p.m. - After party
