Oct. 5-21, 2012: 'Hot 'N' Throbbing'

UAA Assistant Professor Daniel Anteau steps out from behind his usual shining role as lighting director to direct his first main stage production, "Hot 'N' Throbbing." Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Paula Vogel, "Hot 'N' Throbbing" takes a real and surrealistic look into domestic violence and the pervasiveness of sexuality in mainstream culture.

The script features newly divorced Charlene Dwyer trying to support her two children by writing erotic screenplays. Her ex-husband, Clyde, can't accept that Charlene doesn't need him, even though it was his abuse and alcoholism that drove her away. "In every situation, it's like you're screaming at the TV," says Anteau.

Toss in a screenplay deadline that Charlene desperately tries to meet and hormonally overcharged teenagers, and you have "Hot 'N' Throbbing." This play is for mature audiences who can expect to be amused, saddened and left with plenty to talk about on the way home.

This production runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m., Oct. 5-21.
