October 2012 is now Information Literacy Month in Alaska

Information literacy is defined as the ability to recognize a need for information, and then locate and effectively and ethically use resources to find information. Recognizing the importance of information literacy skills, Governor Sean Parnell signed an Executive Proclamation declaring October 2012 as Information Literacy Month in Alaska.

This proclamation was initiated by UAA Professor of Library Science Deborah Mole and endorsed by the Alaska Library Association and Association of School Librarians. Alaska is one of eight states that now have proclamations declaring October 2012 as Information Literacy Month. Thank you, Governor Parnell!
