SafeZone Ally Training - Sept. 26, 2012

by Michelle Saport  |

Wednesday, Sept. 26, 6 p.m. Student Union, Lyla Richards Conference Room This event is free and open to the UAA and Anchorage communities.

The SafeZone program is designed to increase the overall campus community's understanding and awareness of issues faced by gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, allies (GLBTQA) and other marginalized persons.

SafeZone became a part of the UAA community in November 2010, and now has 27 allies comprised of UAA students, staff and community members, located across campus and in the Anchorage community.

This two-hour training takes participants through a variety of activities aimed at expanding horizons and cultivating thoughts. It will help participants examine their thoughts and views while prepping them to become better allies for the GLBTQA community.

To register, contact SafeZone@uaa.alaska.edu.

SafeZone is housed within the Dean of Students Office. For more information about UAA SafeZone or SafeZone training, please contact (907) 786-1214 or SafeZone@uaa.alaska.edu.
