Passport Series: Sudan with Mabil Duir Monday, Oct. 15, 5:30-7 p.m. UAA Campus Bookstore

Mabil Duir is a student at UAA and member of USUAA student government. Everyone is invited to come and learn about modern day Sudan. This event is co-sponsored with Enrollment Services and USUAA.

Alaska Native Oratory Society: Open Mic Nite Wednesday, Oct. 17, 5-7 p.m. UAA Campus Bookstore

Everyone is invited to hear poetry, stories, music and song. This event is sponsored by Alaska Native Studies.

Prof. Tom Ravens presents "Climate Change in Alaska: A Look at Water Issues and Solutions" Thursday, Oct. 18, 5-7 p.m. UAA Campus Bookstore

UAA Civil Engineering Professor Tom Ravens, Ph.D., gives an overview of his work on climate change in Alaska. Topics include
climate change and other impacts (e.g., ocean acidification) associated with excessive greenhouse gas emissions; Alaska-related impacts of climate change (such as increased flooding, erosion and water quality in Western and Northern Alaska); and the availability of renewable energy in Alaska and the U.S., with a focus on hydrokinetic energy.
