Everybody Makes a Difference!
Shine a light on a deserving student while helping build a tradition!!!

Contribute to building this UAA tradition!

What is it?
The Martin Luther King Jr. Student Appreciation Luncheon is an annual event celebrating the many contributions of our students who make a difference to the UAA community. The program is sponsored by the Chancellor's office and Student Activities. One of Dr. King's important messages was that we as individuals can make a difference in the lives of others and in society.

Staff and faculty members recommend students who make a difference in the University, the community, their department, and/or their class by their efforts.
All recommended students and the staff or faculty who submit recommendations are invited to the luncheon on Friday, Jan. 25 at 11:45 a.m. in the Student Union. Our keynote speaker is civil rights leader Kenji Yoshino, an NYU Law professor who is on the cutting edge of corporate America's civil rights advancements.

Which students can be recommended?
Any UAA student who makes a difference at UAA, in the community, their department, and/or their class through outstanding efforts.

Who can recommend students?
Any UAA staff or faculty member may recommend students. We request you limit recommendations to no more than three students.

How do you recommend your students?
You can recommend up to three students who make a difference and can do so at our website: www.uaa.alaska.edu/mlk. The original deadline for recommendations was Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. The deadline has since been extended to Monday, Nov. 26, by 5 p.m. Please be sure to get your recommendations in by then.

We look forward to celebrating outstanding students and Dr. King's legacy on Jan. 25, 2013 with you!
