Facilities hires two new assistant project managers

The Department of Facilities, Planning and Construction has hired Cory Fischer, EIT, and Christopher McConnell as assistant project managers. Both are UAA graduates and lifelong Alaskans.

Cory Fischer graduated from UAA in 2010 with a B.S. in civil engineering, magna cum laude. Cory is currently a graduate student and plans to graduate in December 2012 with a master's degree in arctic engineering and graduate certificate in port and coastal engineering. Cory interned with UAA Facilities, Maintenance and Operations as an electrical assistant while pursuing his undergraduate degree. He has been working for Michael L. Foster & Associates as a staff engineer since graduation. He will be managing the university's upcoming facilities condition assessment contract as well as a variety of deferred maintenance projects.

Chris McConnell graduated from UAA in 2010 with a B.S. in construction management. Chris worked at UAA IT Services as a computer lab consultant while pursuing his degree and has 10 years of construction industry experience in quality control, project administration and project management with Control Contractors Inc., Klebs Mechanical and Alyeska Pipeline Service Company. Chris is currently working toward a master's in project management at UAA and is the proud father of a seven-month-old boy. Chris will be joining the team working on the new UAA Seawolf Sports Arena project.
