Spring 2013: Returning from study abroad? Apply for Northwest Returnee Conference travel grant by Jan. 16

by Michelle Saport  |

The Northwest Returnee Conference (NWRC) is an annual professional conference held in Portland, Ore., for students and recent graduates in the Pacific Northwest who have returned from an international education experience. This year, a parallel conference for University of Alaska Statewide students who have returned from educational experiences abroad will take place at the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau. The conference will take place on the same day (Feb. 9) as the Portland conference so that attendees at the two conferences may benefit from the same presentation at a point during the day.

Up to five travel grants are available for UAA study abroad and exchange returnees to attend the upcoming conference in Juneau. Application deadline is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013.

NWRC schedule for grant recipients:
Friday, Feb. 8, midday: Fly to Juneau
Saturday, Feb. 9, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.: Conference
Sunday, Feb. 10, early morning: Fly back to Anchorage

Conference sessions will include internationalizing your resume, ideas for going abroad again, how to creatively shape your future through storytelling and mock job interviews. Funding for this scholarship was provided as part of a collaborative endeavor by UA Statewide.
