Regents head to Anchorage for two-day meeting Feb. 21-22, 2013

The University of Alaska Board of Regents will consider approval of a bond resolution to fund deferred maintenance and approval of establishing a quasi-endowment for the University of Alaska Museum of the North at a two-day meeting Feb. 21-22 in Anchorage. The board will also hear reports on human resources and development issues and will discuss the progress of the Strategic Direction Initiative.

The regular meeting will get under way at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in the Gorsuch Commons on the UAA campus. Members of the public will have two opportunities to be heard:

Regents will also view a presentation from faculty and students showcasing UAA's aviation program. The presentation will highlight the program's growth in recent years, and its current and predicted future demand by students, industry and the state of Alaska.

A special preview of UAA's brand campaign launch will round out Thursday afternoon's business agenda, followed by a reception and tour of UAA's Natural Science Building. This will be the first event and regular meeting of the full board for new regent Gloria O'Neill.

The consent agenda includes deletion of the Master of Science in General Science; the Master of Arts in Teaching in Mathematics; and the Master of Arts in Teaching in Physics degree programs at UAF.

Regents also will consider approval of master plans at the UAF College of Rural and Community Development and Community and Technical College, as well as approval for schematic design for a UAF Fine Arts Complex Vapor Barrier.
