Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup Tailgate a success
by Ted Kincaid |
On Saturday, March 2, approximately 300 students, alumni and UAA fans attended the
UAA Student-Alumni Tailgate in the Sullivan Arena parking lot before the second game
of the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup. Students and alumni were welcomed with BBQ
fare, face-painting, a live DJ and some fun giveaways. UAA's mascot, Spirit, and Chancellor
Tom Case even joined in on the fun! The festivities were hosted by the UAA Office
of Alumni Relations and the UAA Alumni Association, in partnership with the UAA student
chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success.
Spirit preps hamburgers and hotdogs at the pre-game tailgate party on March 2.
The tailgate was put together in an effort to provide a space for UAA students and alumni to come together to gear up and cheer on UAA for the big rivalry game. Fans huddled around standing heaters, listening to some cool tunes provided by DJ Scratchy, and munched away on hotdogs and hamburgers. Spirit was on-hand for a special pre-game photo op, and fans were adorned with cowbells and pom-poms in preparation for the big game.
