Board Boot Camp for young professionals, March 28

by Michelle Saport  |

Thursday, March 28, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
The Foraker Group Board Room (161 Klevin Street)

UAA faculty, staff and students are eligible for the Lead:North discount for Board Boot Camp being offered in a partnership between Institute of the North and the Foraker Group. The boot camp is a valuable experience for anyone considering or new to board service.

The Institute of the North invites you to join us for a daylong workshop concerning the ins and outs of serving on a nonprofit board of directors. This specially designed board service training will prepare you for what to expect and will provide tips on how to succeed. The boot camp will focus on:

  • Meeting your expectations--and the organization's;
  • Managing your responsibilities;
  • Building relationships and leveraging networks; and
  • Making the most of your service by navigating the boardroom and beyond.

The day will be interactive, informative and fun. You'll be asked to participate in small group sessions and scenarios. You'll also have the opportunity to reflect on the type of board service for which you are best suited.

Maybe you already serve on a board and have a lot to contribute to this conversation. Maybe you've hesitated joining a board because you have got questions you would like answered. Maybe you've never even considered board service but you're curious about how they function. No matter your background, we hope you will join us.

Lunch will be provided. Cost to attend is $45 for Lead:North members and UAA faculty, staff and students (versus $60 for the general public).
