Journalism and Public Communications Department hosts fundraiser for Atwood Chair of Journalism at "The Marilaine"

On Feb. 27, the Atwood Foundation and the University of Alaska Anchorage hosted more than 60 guests at the Atwood Mansion to celebrate one last time at "The Marilaine," to raise funds for the Atwood Foundation's Robert B. Atwood Chair of Journalism Endowment at UAA. The endowment, established in 1979, was created by Atwood to secure his vision of promoting high quality journalism in Alaska. Thirty-three years and 18 chair members later, Robert and Evangeline's legacy lives on through the Atwood Chair of Journalism Endowment, allowing respected journalists and photojournalists a one-year professorship at UAA to enrich and educate JPC students. The evening's event successfully raised a little over $11,000 for the endowment fund, adding to the $35,000 raised in the past two years, to meet the seven-year campaign goal of $100,000, to secure future chair member appointments at JPC.
