Rashmi Prasad named dean for College of Business and Public Policy

by Michelle Saport  |

Rashmi Prasad, Ph.D., has accepted the position of dean for the College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP). Prasad has been a faculty member at UAA for 11 years, and he's served as the interim dean for CBPP since summer 2012.

As a faculty member, Rashmi worked to integrate experiential and engaged learning into his curriculum, an approach he continued to promote as interim dean. Driven to create a thriving environment for entrepreneurship, Rashmi increased CBPP's commitment to community outreach programs, such as Lemonade Day and Alaska's business plan competition. An advocate of faculty-driven innovation in teaching and learning, Rashmi also created a competitive Innovation in Teaching and Learning Fellowship. Under his interim leadership, CBPP deepened its investment to Alaska's diverse community with the recent formation of an Alaska Native business leaders advisory board.

Prior to taking on the role of interim dean, Rashmi served as the director of UAA's M.B.A. program. He is highly regarded by students, colleagues and alumni, and will be an exceptional leader for CBPP.

Please join us in congratulating Rashmi on this well-earned promotion.
