Beth Rose named first senior development officer for School of Engineering

by Michelle Saport  |

It is with great pleasure that we announce an exciting new challenge for Beth Rose. Effective

July 1, 2013, Beth will step down from the assistant vice chancellor (AVC) for Development post and assume the new senior development officer position for the School of Engineering (SOE).

This is an important move for Beth and for the university as we dedicate a full‐time development professional to engineering for the first time. Beth initiated a discussion about this move as the best fit for her personally and professionally now. While she greatly enjoyed building and managing a top‐notch development team, she seeks to spend more time working directly with donors and assisting the School of Engineering.

Beth has been an invaluable member of the University Advancement team since she joined UAA in 2006 as a senior development officer. In 2007, Beth was tapped to fill the role of assistant vice chancellor and since then she has grown and developed the team in significant and lasting ways. Beth herself was instrumental in securing gifts that helped create the Herbert P. Schroeder Endowed Chair in ANSEP and most recently the $1 million gift from BP to name the SOE's new Corrosion and Asset Integrity Lab. Her contributions are numerous and have been recognized by her peers on and off campus. In 2012, Beth was named Alaska's Fundraising Professional of the Year by the local chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Advancement will initiate a search immediately for a new AVC for Development. We are grateful for Beth's willingness to stay on as AVC until June 30. More information on the search will be available soon.

Please join us in thanking Beth for her years of service as AVC and in wishing her the best as she returns to her post as senior development officer.
