SafeZone Celebration Week highlights, April 11–19

by Michelle Saport  |

The SafeZone program is designed to increase the overall campus community's understanding and awareness of issues faced by gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, allies (GLBTQA) and other marginalized persons.

SafeZone became a part of the UAA community in November 2010, and now has 27 allies comprised of UAA students, staff and community members, located across campus and in the Anchorage community. The program is housed with the Dean of Students Office.

SafeZone Celebration Week is April 11-19 and offers the following events:

GLBT... "Q-and-A" Monday-Friday, April 15-19, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Student Union, Gorsuch Commons, University Center and Alaska Pacific University

Are our campuses providing us with the GLBTQA support services and resources we need? Stop by our GLBT... "Q-and-A" tables across campus and share your feedback anonymously. A different question will be posted each day of the week so check back often with your thoughts and comments.

Erin took her car on a 58-day trip around the United States and Canada. Along the way, Erin discovered other, more serious hate crimes, had people attempt to remove the graffiti and experimented with having a male drive her car. After a year of driving the fagbug, Erin decided to give her car a makeover.
