Student Activities presents a night of performance art featuring spoken-word artist Katie Wirsing and slam poet Rudy Francisco. This event is free for UAA students with valid ID and $10 for the general public. Tickets will be available at the door.

About Katie Wirsing: Katie's topics range anywhere from gender and love to Jell-O wrestling and her grandmother's love of hot dogs. Her own brand of storytelling and fluency in the language of living has won her audiences coast-to-coast. Some of her standout performances include her opening for The Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and an appearance at AquaGirl, a queer woman's festival. She also served as the poetic voice on a national commercial for Kasassa Banking.

Check out a clip of her here.

About Rudy Francisco: Rudy is the co-host of the largest poetry venue in San Diego and has been featured at countless venues, colleges and showcases across the nation. He uses poetry to unapologetically peel back his layers and offer his life experience to the audience. The honesty, vulnerability and conviction in his words help him win the hearts of listeners everywhere. Some of his biggest achievements include wining the 2009 National Underground Poetry Slam Championship, 2010 San Diego Grand Slam Championship and 2010 Individual World Poetry Slam Championship, as well as starring in season 2 of TV One's "Verses and Flow."
