How did CIRI and Browman Development Co. evaluate risk and decide that the corner of North Muldoon Road and Glenn Highway was the best place to invest millions for the development of Tikahtnu Commons? How does Google know to create pop-up ads that will entice one to buy their preferred brand of sweater while searching for insurance rates or tires for their car? Why does Fred Meyer arrange products next to each other in a way that reminds one to purchase items forgotten on the shopping list? In part, through data analysis. Come learn how you can use the same tools to make decisions, meet goals and follow objectives in your job or for your business.

The College of Business and Public Policy is sponsoring a presentation by Susan Dickerson on data analytic for decision support. She will share results from a study that combined multiple sources of information and company-specific data to help a local business in their decision-making processes.

The results of the study are intended to demonstrate the effectiveness of using data analysis, business dynamics and geographic information systems for decision support within any company. It serves as an introduction to the possibilities and power of analyzing multiple data sources for answering questions generated by management.
