2013 Lemonade Day Alaska

by Michelle Saport  |

Alaska's youth and business owners spanning from Anchorage to Barrow to Ketchikan are gearing up for the third annual Lemonade Day Alaska this Saturday. This statewide initiative provides K-12 students the opportunity to learn how to build and operate their own business: the time-honored tradition of running a lemonade stand. In addition to financial literacy, youth learn how to set goals, develop a budget, attract investors, choose a business location and put everything together into a business plan. The foremost objective of Lemonade Day is to empower youth to take ownership of their lives and become productive members of society as the business leaders, social advocates, volunteers and forward-thinking citizens of tomorrow.
