Monday, June 10, 2:30-4 p.m. UAA Campus Bookstore

Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu Festival, Duānwǔ Jié, Double Fifth, Tuen Ng Jit) is a traditional holiday in China that commemorates the great patriot poet QuYuan. To celebrate, people race dragon boats and eat zongzi, which are rice dumplings with meat, peanut, egg yolk or other sweet fillings, wrapped in bamboo leaves and cooked by steaming or boiling. All are invited to attend the Confucius Institute's celebration to learn more about the festival's history, make zongzi and practice Chinese with native speakers.

The zongzi are being ordered form Seattle; please R.S.V.P. in advance at the Confucius Institute's website so organizers know how much to order.

Free parking for the festival will be available from 2-5 p.m. in the West Campus Central Parking Lot (behind Rasmuson Hall).
