2013 Kachemak Bay Writer's Conference

The highly acclaimed 2013 Kachemak Bay Writers' Conference is June 14-18 at Land's End Resort in Homer, Alaska. This year's keynote presenter will be internationally recognized and award-winning novelist, short story writer and poet, Naomi Shihab Nye.

The conference will feature 17 other award-winning, nationally recognized authors, editors and agents who will conduct creative writing workshops, readings, talks and panel presentations in creative fiction, nonfiction, poetry and the business of writing. The 2013 conference's other presenting writers are Rich Chiappone, John Daniel, Nora Marks Dauenhauer (Alaska State Writer Laureate), Joy Harris, Sean Hill, Ann Hood, Sara Loewen, Nancy Lord, Karen McElmurray, Melinda Moustakis, Nicole Stellon O'Donnel, Lee Ann Roripaugh, Alexis Rizzuto, Eva Saulitis, Peggy Shumaker, Sherry Simpson and Deb Vanasse.

Optional activities include manuscript reviews, editor-agent consultations, receptions, a boat cruise and open mic events. Evening readings held June 15-17 by visiting writers will be open to the general public at no charge.

A special post-conference writing workshop, "Nature Across the Genres," will be held at Kachemak Bay Wilderness Lodge for conference registrants with award-winning writer John Daniel.

Major conference benefactors include Alaska Humanities Forum, Alaska State Council on the Arts, First National Bank Alaska, Grant Aviation, Era Alaska, Kachemak Bay Campus-Kenai Peninsula College, Land's End Resort, University of Alaska, UAA, Usibelli Foundation and many individual donors.
