by Michelle Saport  |

Thursday, June 27, 6-9 p.m. Tap Root (3300 Spenard Road)

Join local Alaskan author and UAA associate professor Don Rearden and a wide showcase of other Alaskan talent, including members of renowned Yup'ik singing group Pamyua, Bethel singer/songwriter Kevin Morgan, Homer's bluegrass trio Burnt Down House, host Eskimo Bob and others at Tap Root to celebrate the launch and signing of suspense thriller "The Raven's Gift" and raise money for the Alaska Red Cross' fund for Galena and other Alaska villages damaged by the spring floods.

Fireside Books will be selling copies of the novel at the launch, and donating a percent of sales to the American Red Cross of Alaska disaster relief fund for Alaska spring flooding in communities on the Yukon, Koyukuk and Tok Rivers. The event is free and open to the public. Donations will be welcome. There will be door prizes donated by Raven's Brew Coffee, a silent auction and a Red Cross representative on hand to talk about the ongoing efforts to help Galena and other flood-affected communities.
