Professor Kappes presents on ePortfolio developments at Boston conference

Dr. Bruno Kappes delivered two papers at 2013 AAEEBL Annual ePortfolio Conference:  "ePortfolio Field Coming of Age: Knowledge, Research and Practice," in Boston, MA July 29-Aug. 1.

Professor of psychology Bruno Kappes presented a research paper he wrote along with his graduate teaching assistant Mi Cao entitled, "eFolio Thinking Protocols as Predictors of eLearning Objectives." He also presented a second paper that he co-authored with professor of engineering Bart Quimby entitled "University Wide Multi-Program Outcomes Focused ePortfolio Pilot Project," based on a review of UAA's 2011 and 2012 ePortfolio endeavors.

As an active supporter of AAEEBL, professor Kappes participated in conference planning and abstract review as a member of the 2013 program committee as well as serving on the conference engagement team and as a session chair convener.  He is currently responsible for post-conference assessment, evaluation and report.

20130809Kappes1Over the last 35 years, Dr. Kappes has pioneered distance delivery psychology course instruction via teleconferencing, live televised courses statewide in Alaska and Hawaii, as well as video, DVD and Internet. Currently he provides eLearning psychology courses to 900 students per year, 300 per semester, in subjects that include general, abnormal, stress, forensic and trauma. He has presented numerous international presentations over the years in 15 foreign countries including presentations at the 2008 iLearning forum in Paris, France as well as EDULEARN10 in Barcelona, Spain and BFE, 2010 in Rome, Italy.

Kappes also served as a 2011 international advisory board member and presented recently in 2013 at INTED in Valencia, Spain.  He was also a member of the program committee where he presented and chaired sessions at the 2011, 2012 ePIC in London, England.

This last year he presented virtually for OTC2012 in California, USA, resulting in 1,500 YouTube views.  This year he also presented, reviewed and chaired sessions at Sloan-C, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada and is a Psychology Associate Editorial Board Member for (MERLOT) since 2011 to current.
