Calls to tech support can take far too long, eating into your day. Fortunately, there are resources available to help you solve most of the tech issues you may face. Among these resources are tools you probably already use. This workshop will explore self-help tech resources for saving both your time and your sanity.

Come in for open lab, bring your questions, bring your midterm, come ask questions and practice the tools you have learned with support from FTC Instructional Designers. Plus, learn tips and tricks to make Blackboard work for your course content

iPad Ninja Training: Tips and Tricks Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2:30-3:45 p.m. UAA/APU Consortium Library, Room 214 or via VTC*

Learn the ins and outs of your iPad. Whether you and your iPad are in the honeymoon phase of your relationship or your iPad no longer notices when you get a new haircut, join us to learn about all sorts of fun tips and tricks for using your device. This is the first of a regular monthly series of iPad trainings-even if you already know everything about everything, this is still a great chance to make new iPad friends! Ninja gear optional, but always encouraged.

Web 2.0 Resource Tools Thursday, Sept. 26, 9-10 a.m. Rasmuson Hall, Room 215 or via Blackboard Collaborate

This 60-minute workshop will cover online resource tools available for faculty and students, as well as how to use them for assignments. Learn instructions and tips on RSS feeds, Google hangouts, advanced search tools and online curation sites.

Technical Writing: Instructions and Tutorials Thursday, Sept. 26, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. UAA/APU Consortium Library, Room 214 or online via Blackboard Collaborate

Are you responsible for writing instructions or tutorials? Are you support personnel (for students or instructors) who explains the same processes multiple times per week? Maybe you want help making your syllabus more readable?

This workshop will help you get started in writing clear instruction sets or tutorials, which can then be used as a resource for others or repurposed. Topics include task-oriented instructions, usability and testing, chunking, formatting and publishing to the web.

Come with an instruction set or tutorial draft or plan. You will have the opportunity for user testing follow-up by FTC staff. Led by UAA English Faculty.
