Sept. 27, 2013: Tree Planting

by Michelle Saport  |

Friday, Sept. 27, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Meet at University Lake Building

We need 20 volunteers to help finish off our year of planting trees. UAA has a No Net Tree Loss policy, where we replace trees removed due to construction activities. So far this year about 6,000 seedlings have been planted on university land in the Kenai Peninsula. Next up are 500 trees on land in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. Come help us achieve our goal of No Net Tree Loss! Food, transportation and tools will be provided by Facilities & Campus Services.

Schedule: 8 a.m. - Continental breakfast and briefing at University Lake 9 a.m. - Departure to Mat-Su site 10 a.m. - Plant seedlings (exact length of time depends on number of volunteers) 3 p.m. - Lunch at University Lake Building

Those who would like to participate should email Ryan at rcbuchholdt@uaa.alaska.edu with the names of those who will be attending.
