Fairview residents envisage neighborhood's past, present and future

by Michelle Saport  |

A temporary museum sprung up in the Fairview Rec Center parking lot this past weekend. Part of ENGAGE Week, the four-hour event brought residents and others interested in the area together to reminisce, share pictures and mementos, as well as plan for positive change and a better image for one of the city's oldest neighborhoods.

Visitor-curated exhibits celebrated the neighborhood's history and culture, from its time as a skiing destination to a resident who gave voice lessons to Morgan Freeman. Head over to alaskapublic.org for more on the collaboration.

If you'd like to share some local history, stay tuned-there could be a pop-up museum coming soon to a neighborhood near you.
