Nov. 24, 2013: 'Opera for a Cause: A Benefit for the Philippines'

by Michelle Saport  |

Sunday, Nov. 24, 2-4 p.m. Fine Arts Building, Recital Hall

The UAA Department of Music and the Anchorage Opera Chorus are teaming up to perform a concert of operatic and instrumental selections in support of those affected by the recent typhoon in the Philippines. More than 30 artists will raise their voices and instruments to play in honor of the victims of the Typhoon Haiyan disaster. The Anchorage Opera Chorus will perform inspiring, prayer-like anthems from the operas "Nabucco," "Moise" and "Lucia de Lamermoor," and vocalists will perform favorite arias and duets. Featured faculty performers include Mari Hahn, John Lutterman, Armin Abdihodzic, Lee Wilkins with special guest Marsha Ackerman, Michael Smith and George Yang.

Admission is by donation. All proceeds will benefit the Typhoon Relief Fund.

For more information, contact Mari Hahn at mhahn6@uaa.alaska.edu or (907) 786-1009.
