Green Fee Student Board looking for new members

by Michelle Saport  |

The Green Fee Student Board, which oversees the Green Fee Fund, currently has several open positions. Board members meet once or twice a month to review projects and grant proposals for improving UAA's environmental awareness.

The Green Fee Fund comes from a three-dollar fee collected from each student enrolled in at least three credits each semester. Students can access the funds by submitting grant proposals for environmentally wise, economically sound and socially responsible projects. Joining the board is a great opportunity for students to get involved and decide how this money should be spent.

Although the Green Fee is relatively new, it has already funded a few projects around campus like the Bike Share program, a recycling competition in the Gorsuch Commons and a screening of "Fierce Green Fire" at the Loussac Library.

Contact Whitney Lowell at wdlowell@uaa.alaska.edu or (907) 786-4994 for more information about joining the Green Fee Student Board.
