'Surviving on the Foods and Water from Alaska's Southern Shores' back in stock

by Michelle Saport  |

The Alaska Sea Grant Bookstore is excited to announce Surviving on the Foods and Water from Alaska's Southern Shores is back in stock. Authored by Dolly Garza and now in its third edition, this illustrated booklet describes wilderness sources of nutritious foods useful in a survival situation, or just for everyday consumption. There are recommendations on how to make drinking water safe, as well as how to find and prepare intertidal sea animals, bird eggs, land plants and seaweeds for eating. Color pictures are included to help distinguish edible plants and animals from poisonous ones. The appendix provides nutritional values of wild foods.
