UAA establishes Academic Innovations & eLearning office; welcomes Paul Wasko as ePortfolio Initiatives coordinator

The UAA Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Engagement and Academic Support recently announced the Faculty Technology Center has been restructured to create the Office of Academic Innovations & eLearning. The new office will provide strategic leadership to UAA's instructional technology community, offer technology-oriented professional development opportunities and support distance education for the campus. Academic Innovations & eLearning also retains a focus on providing instructional design and media production services for the academic community.

"I am thrilled by this change," stated Dave Dannenberg, director of the new office. "This move allows us to build upon our past success by expanding our existing services to staff and students. With a strategic focus on instructional technology and eLearning, we are able to meet the needs of both on-campus and distance students through innovative collaborations with both students affairs and information technology services."

Dannenberg also announced Paul Wasko is UAA's new ePortfolio initiatives coordinator. The ePortfolio initiatives coordinator position was created by provost Elisha "Bear" Baker last year following a two-year learning assessment study. Wasko joins the team following the conclusion of a nationwide search and will be responsible for implementing and supporting the use of electronic portfolios across UAA. Wasko stated, "I am excited to join the UAA Academic Innovations & eLearning team!  As a founding member of the broader electronic portfolio community, I am anxious to honor the UAA portfolio work/discussions that have taken place during the prior eighteen months and to leverage that interest and support into a successful ePortfolio program."
